Replacing a shutter slat

Replacing a broken or damaged slat with a spare is a simple process that shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes. Please review this guide carefully before attempting to do so in order to prevent any mistakes.

Required Components (please get in contact with us so that these can be provided to you):

  • A spare slat (this will take a little while to arrive, and you may be charged a small amount for this)
  • Spring-loaded slat pin
  • A solid slat pin (Central tilt rod only)
  • Tilt rod staple (Central tilt rod only)
  • Hidden tilt rod pin (Hidden tilt rod only)

Required Tools:

  • A small hammer
  • A wallpaper scraper

STEP 1:

Carefully remove the old slat by shearing the slat pin in half using the wallpaper scraper and a few swift taps from the hammer.

STEP 2:

Insert the solid pin/hidden rod slat pin into one side of the slat.

STEP 3:

Insert the spring-loaded slat pin into the other side of the slat, with the spring-loaded end sticking out.

STEP 4:

Important: Make sure that all of the slats are fully opened as far as they’ll go, and that the new slat is aligned with them so that they all open and close smoothly together.

Put the slat into the panel – once it’s correctly aligned with the hole in the frame, the spring-loaded end of the pin will extend into place.

STEP 5:

Reattach the tilt rod.

Your new slat is now in place.
